My son started at Roseville in Pre-K in 2016 and we've never considered sending our children anywhere else. I am continually impressed by the knowledge, skill, talent, and commitment the Roseville teachers and staff lead with and want to ensure that Roseville continues to attract the best of the best. We would choose Roseville again and again, and I hope you'll choose me to represent you!

During my career, I've also had the honor of receiving the 2015 TIES Exceptional Teacher award and the 2019 Rising Star in Economic Education award through the Minnesota Council on Economic Education. Throughout my career, I have advocated for meeting the needs of all learners and have led change and workshops on teaching students with ADHD, ASD, anxiety, and dyslexia. I am a LETRS certified teacher of reading and spelling and passionate about literacy education and neurodivergence.

I am a Roseville citizen with a deep-rooted family history of service within the community spanning 70 years. My grandfather was a Roseville police officer who gave his life serving the community and is honored with Howard Johnson Park on Woodhill. He raised his family, including my mother, near Northwestern University (where my parents were eventually married). My grandmother remained in the community until her death in 2011. I was raised in nearby Shoreview, but consider Roseville as equally impactful on my upbringing. I've now lived here with my family since 2018 and look forward to continuing to serve the community.
The school board represents the community in the educational system. Education is my life and my passion. And, I have a deep drive to serve and represent my community. This makes school board the perfect fit to continue to live out my vocation. My core values as an educator and as a leader boil down to three core concepts, each of equal importance: inspire, support, and equip. Each of these play a role in my motivation for running for school board.
I will work to elevate the profession and ensure that teachers are able to continue to inspire and educate because we trust them to do so. Strong public education is the life blood of societal uplift, continuous improvement, and progress. It is linked to better health outcomes, lower crime rates, lower dependence on government assistance, increased innovation, and problem solving. Strong public education builds empathy and creates global citizens ready to solve the problems of today and the future. It creates critical thinkers that have compassion for their fellow community members. And, it all begins with the teachers. Teachers are drawn to the field to make these changes and have the unique set of gifts to do this transformational work. WE must let the teachers teach.
All other vocations begin with education. This is why it is essential that we have an equitable system that supports the needs of and celebrates the person-hood and gifts of each student. As the parent of a son with Autism and a daughter who is hard of hearing, I have experienced Roseville's commitment to this belief first hand. They understand that support begins with relationship and know my children as individuals. It all goes back to my son's Pre-K teacher's signature: "They won't care what you know until they know that you care." Equity is about understanding each student's experience. Equity is a means to an end and that end is high academic achievement that leads to productive and engaged members of society. As a member of the school board, I will continue to advocate for and support our equity vision and relationship with the community so that all students have the chance to thrive.
Public education can't just be about inspiration and support. We have to equip our teachers with the tools they need so that they can do the same for our students. As a teacher, I know that every human is driven to be successful and when they have the tools to do so, they are. An equitable education is about making sure that each student has the tools they need to be successful and that each teacher has the tools they need to meet the needs of their students. This is how Roseviille will continue to attract the most talented, passionate, and engaging educators to add to an already phenomenal staff, and promote the most effective instructional strategies and programs through curriculum and extra curricular experiences.
